Business jet market sentiment has shown a cautious improvement, according to Jefferies, which says its sentiment index has risen to 6.1 from 5.9 in January. However, the figure is still well below the 8.7 seen in January 2022. Jefferies notes that Gulfstream is the most in-demand original equipment manufacturer, with the G700 leading new aircraft sentiment.

Airport Focus
Morris Municipal/James R. Washburn Field in Illinois will begin construction this year on a crosswind runway, which will extend from west-southwest to the east-northeast, providing a complement to the existing north-south runway. This new addition will enhance the airport's capabilities and allow it to serve as an emergency landing site for major Chicago airports.

Pilot Spotlight
Mark Morris, an aspiring aviator with cerebral palsy, has become the first recipient of the Mark Long Scholarship, which offers flying lessons to people with disabilities. The scholarship was created in memory of Royal Air Force Squadron Leader Mark Long, who died in a Spitfire crash last year. Morris completed a three-week course at the UK's Sherburn Aero Club, describing the experience as an honor, while acknowledging the challenges of learning to fly.

Policy Watch
A US-UK trade deal has taken effect, reducing tariffs on certain imports. The deal removes 10% tariffs on aircraft engines and parts. However, steel and aluminum tariffs remain unresolved, with the UK potentially facing higher tariffs starting July 9 if no agreement is reached.
