Cyberattacks target US airlines

Cybercriminals gained access to several US and Canadian airlines' computer networks this month, said private experts and FBI agents, who attributed the attacks to a group known as Scattered Spider. No airlines have reported effects on safety or operations.

An appeals court's ruling that a partnership between JetBlue and American Airlines would undermine competition will stand, the Supreme Court decided today. While JetBlue had already backed out of the potential Northeast Alliance, American pursued the case on the grounds that the ruling would keep it from making similar deals in the future.

Severe weather forced the cancellation of at least 450 flights and delays to 558 at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and temporarily caused staff to partly evacuate the air traffic control tower. The storms most severely affected Delta Air Lines, which has its headquarters in the city, and employees had to inspect some 100 aircraft for potential hail damage.

BermudAir plans to launch AnguillAir in December, connecting the eastern Caribbean island of Anguilla to Baltimore and Boston, the same cities from which it flies to Bermuda. Baltimore flights will take place from Dec. 22 to April 6 and Boston trips will run from Dec. 20 to April 8.

INTERNATIONAL UPDATE
Air Canada has started a non-stop route between Montreal and Edinburgh, Scotland, where its inaugural flight ended with a traditional bagpipe performance. An expanded codeshare agreement between the airline and Lufthansa Express Rail increases Air Canada's European presence by letting passengers book train connections to 24 destinations in Germany via Frankfurt Airport.
