2 hospitalized after fireworks explode ahead of show at Cape Cod golf course

Two people were hospitalized Wednesday after fireworks exploded while crews were setting up for a show at a Cape Cod golf course.

Firefighters in Mashpee, Massachusetts, responded shortly after 4:30 p.m. to the New Seabury Country Club.

One person suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital, fire officials said. Another was taken to Falmouth Hospital with minor injuries.

Person shot in Lynn; no arrests, police say

One person was injured in a shooting late Wednesday night in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Lynn police say they received a call around 11:46 p.m. for a reported shooting on Woodman Street and arrived to find one victim who had been shot.

The victim was taken to Salem Hospital, according to police. There was no immediate word on their condition.

‘So uncalled for': Man calls out group who hurled anti-LGBTQ slurs in Provincetown

As police and officials in Provincetown, Massachusetts, investigate a series of anti-LGBTQ incidents, a man who was affected is speaking out against hate.

The Provincetown entertainer was walking home around 10 p.m. Tuesday when he saw a group of people in a car sped by.

“Hurling slurs at people,” he said. “Both racial and anti-LGBTQIA. And they threw one at me, as well.”

Mass. State Police chief on public trust, learning from Karen Read case

The Massachusetts State Police are still reviewing what happened in the Karen Read case to see how the department can improve, its leader told NBC10 Boston on Wednesday.

Nine months into his time as colonel of the agency, Geoffrey Noble is launching a campaign to make it more effective while engaging with the community more. The Excellence Initiative was launched this week, and we asked if it grew out of the reaction to now-fired Trooper Michael Proctor’s inappropriate texts about Read soon after he began investigating the death of her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe.

Noble said the department is always looking for ways to improve: “We will always look at areas and ways that we can do better, and the Karen Read trial is another example of that.”
