Christine Kinsey has created Blankets from Ben, a nonprofit based in LaFollette, Tenn., that provides handmade blankets to parents of organ donors, in memory of her son Ben, whose organ donation saved five lives. The organization has donated around 300 blankets in South Carolina and Tennessee and plans to expand nationwide.

S.C. nonprofit opens permanent location
Pockets Full of Sunshine, a nonprofit focused on aiding adults with disabilities, has opened its first permanent location on Hilton Head Island, S.C. The organization, which has moved among temporary spaces since its founding 10 years ago, aims to provide inclusive vocational and social opportunities.

Giving USA report: Major donors drive 2024 giving rise
Charitable giving in the US increased by 3.3% in 2024, breaking a three-year streak of declines, this year's Giving USA Report indicates. The overall increase was primarily driven by gains in the stock market, which buoyed major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations, but the positive topline number masks ongoing challenges, as giving from small and midsize donors, as well as from new and retained donors, continued to fall. The data underscores a fundraising landscape increasingly reliant on substantial gifts from a shrinking pool of super-sized donors.
