Uber's push for driverless cars, in partnership with Baidu, Waymo and other companies, is transforming transportation by offering safer and more efficient rides, according to the companies. Riders who have tried robotaxis report higher confidence in them, while Baidu's Apollo robotaxi has clocked miles safely and Waymo has reduced serious injuries by 88%. Smart Take: Winning over passengers might be the last hurdle for driverless cars. I live in Denver, slated to receive a test of driverless cars later this year, so I haven't ridden in one yet. But in San Francisco, enterprising tour guides offered unsanctioned three-hour tours of the city for $149 in Waymo robotaxis. Have you tried out a driverless car yet?
