September 17 Family Newsletter
Thank you for everyone's support today with our first three hour early dismissal. By dismissing early today, our staff was able to connect with one another to learn about Zones of Regulation, which is a curriculum that helps students develop self-regulation skills and manage their emotions.
There was also a lot of excitement today with the return of circle pizza in the cafeteria.
As a reminder, tonight there is a PTA meeting at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria. We would love to see families to connect.
Next week is a Rosh Hashanah and a holiday for students and staff. The office at Union Mill will be closed.
Looking ahead to October, we have our Math and Science Night scheduled for Thursday, October 9th. We are looking for volunteers to support our science and math stations. If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up here.

Volunteering at Union Mill
FCPS is rolling out a new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, for parents/caregivers, community members, and even students to register and search volunteer opportunities throughout FCPS.
All volunteers (new or returning) are required to register with Volunteer FCPS, complete a volunteer orientation, and are required to sign in with their government issued ID at the VMS in the main office each time they come to volunteer. Some volunteers will also be required to undergo a background check.
If you plan to volunteer at Union Mill this year (i.e. Math & Science Night, chaperone field trips, stuff Friday folders, shelve books in the library, etc.) please start the registration process NOW. Visit the Volunteer FCPS website for details and to get started. The sooner you register, the sooner you'll be eligible to volunteer.
