As we approach the last few months of the year, massive federal policy shifts continue to dominate the headlines. They include major changes to federal research funding, such as the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling allowing the Trump administration to cancel $783 million in National Institutes of Health grants.
Federal officials also recently offered nine universities access to priority research funding if they agree to a wide-ranging set of higher education policies championed by the Trump administration. MIT on Friday became the first college to reject that offer over concerns about the potential impact on independence and free expression.
