  • Hamas handed over all 20 surviving hostages to Israel, a major step towards ending two years of devastating war in Gaza as US President Donald Trump, who helped broker the truce, proclaimed it was "a great day".

New England courts become a battleground for challenges to Trump

A federal judge in Boston had some pointed words for Donald Trump as he issued one of the dozens of decisions by courts in four New England states against the Republican president in challenges to the legality of his policies.

Young's ruling was an example of how federal judges in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine have become key players in the legal wars over Trump's policies since he returned to office in January, as litigants seek a friendly venue to challenge the president.

Royal delivery helps World Conker Championships go ahead

Despite emptying pockets full of them every time I do a load of washing; it has in fact been a bad season for conkers in the UK this year. 

Thankfully, the World Conker Championships were able to go ahead as planned this weekend after a royal delivery from Windsor Castle 

When Britain's horse chestnut trees, on which grow the shiny inedible nut-like seeds which have been used to play conkers for generations, failed to deliver their usual crop, organisers feared the event might have to be cancelled.
