10th Grade Vision and Hearing Screening

Vision and hearing screening will be held on October 15th and 16th for all 10th grade students. The purpose of screening is to identify students who need further evaluation due to difficulty seeing the screening chart or hearing the screening tones. If your child wears glasses, please be sure that contacts/glasses are at school on screening day. Parents will be notified by letter if screening results indicate that further evaluation is needed. Prompt follow-up with your health care provider is recommended as vision and hearing difficulties can interfere with learning.

PTSO Stock the Workrooms!

Let's spread some sunshine to our hardworking staff and faculty at Robinson! With end of Quarter approaching, let's show our love by stocking the workrooms with some fun snacks.

The PTSO is organizing a donation drive of store bought individually wrapped crackers, chips, candy or snacks. They will be distributed in the TWELVE (!!!) staff workrooms and to our custodial staff and security staff.  We are coordinating the drive for Oct 12 - Nov 7th (but we never turn away a donation if it comes later!)

You can donate several ways:

1) drop any donations  at Door 1 at Robinson. Please label any donations "Robinson PTSO/ Ms. Fernandes"

2) there is an Amazon Wish list below and the items can be delivered to Robinson. Again, please make sure any donations are marked "PTSO/Ms. Fernandes".

3) drop off any donations at the Paredes House in Burke.  Please email kathyrparedes@yahoo.com for the exact address near the Burke Library. Please mark it PTSO.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are thrilled to announce that the Robinson Secondary School Library will be hosting a Book Fair, in partnership with Bookworm Central! This exciting event will be an opportunity for our students to explore a world of literature and foster their love for reading.

When: October 6 to Oct 14, 2025
Where: Library

Our Book Fair will feature a wide range of books suitable for all age groups and interests. From the latest middle school and young adult fiction to timeless classics, there's something for every young reader. This is a fantastic chance for your child to find new books that they will cherish and enjoy.

We’re offering the eWallet feature, a safe and convenient digital payment option for onsite purchases. Set up your child's eWallet through our Book Fair homepage:

https://www.bookwormbmaps.com/eWallet/

Please mark your calendars and support our school's reading initiatives. Remember, every purchase from the Book Fair helps us earn rewards and resources for our school.

We look forward to seeing you there!

FCPS Volunteer Requirements

Recent updates to our volunteer process focus on one primary goal: keeping students safe.

These updates — such as checks against the sex offender registry and, in some cases, criminal background checks — are safety measures that will help us maintain a secure and supportive learning environment for every student in our care.

We encourage all our parents and community members interested in supporting our students by volunteering at school to visit Volunteer FCPS, click “Learn More,” and then “Sign Up.” After you create a profile, you will view an orientation video and complete a volunteer application.

Volunteer FCPS ensures a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. All volunteers must be registered in Volunteer FCPS. This includes individuals who volunteer to chaperone on field trips, work at book fairs, and help out regularly in classrooms, libraries, or cafeterias. Volunteers who work unsupervised with students will also be required to undergo a background check.

We understand these changes may seem disruptive, especially for long-time volunteers. Our intent is to ensure that our students feel safe and supported with each and every person they encounter at school.

As a reminder, all volunteers — and visitors to a school — are required to sign in by scanning their ID at our visitor kiosk. Visit the Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more.

Financial Obligations

Students who are purchasing homecoming tickets are being informed if they have any financial obligations.  If you have questions or concerns about your student's financial obligations, please reach out to their grade-level administrator to discuss and resolve them.
