Dear Lancers:
I hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend. A reminder that schools are also closed next Monday, October 20th for Diwali celebrations. On Saturday, October 18th our cross-country team will race in their first meet of the season. Good luck to all of our Longfellow athletes in their first competition! I look forward to seeing you all compete in some upcoming races.
I wanted to share an update on the Opengate weapons detection system. On Friday, we were able to get all students who were at school on time, through and on their way to class by 7:30. Students have been doing an excellent job of being prepared to walk through the gates and our lines are starting to move much faster as a result.
I also wanted to share a reminder to our Kiss and Ride families that with the shortening daylight in the morning, it is important to drive cautiously/safely and follow the directions of the staff who are controlling traffic flow. This is especially important at the crosswalk that crosses the kiss and ride lane. Please follow the directions of staff and stop to let kids cross in a safe manner.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I appreciate your ongoing support and partnership.
Chris Butzer Principal Longfellow MS
