Cleveland and Browns make a deal: The City of Cleveland and Haslam Sports Group are making amends, ending their legal battle over the proposed Browns stadium in Brook Park. Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam held a joint news conference at City Hall and announced the broad terms of a settlement deal that calls for Haslam Sports Group to pay $100 million over 15 years to help Cleveland realize its dream of redeveloping the Downtown lakefront. Bibb and Haslam hashed it out at Haslam’s house over “two Cokes,” which a part of me deeply hopes is a euphemism for a good bottle of scotch. There are many pieces to this deal. More from Michelle Jarboe.
Generations of Clevelanders have been there: And now it’s for sale. Tim and Joanne Sorge, the owners of Swings-N-Things in Olmsted Township, announced their retirement, marking the end of an era for the popular amusement park.
-
End of another era: Fishers Foods in Jackson Township ends a 92-year run, reports Remi Murrey.
-
And yet even more ends of things: A couple of historic Catholic churches in Portage and Ashtabula counties are closing, reports Clay LePard.
This was inevitable: The Downtown Safety Patrol pulls over a lot of people, and when you deal in volume, things are bound to go wrong. They have. A man was stopped, searched and a year later – I repeat, a year later – accused of driving around with illegal drugs. The driver fought a criminal case this summer and won. He’s now alleging malicious prosecution in a new civil rights lawsuit filed one week ago, reports Tara Morgan. The taxpayers are now on the hook for whatever comes next.
St. Ignatius responds to Libs of TikTok interference: In a letter written with admirable restraint, which someone shared to Reddit, the school said it does not permit student groups affiliated with outside organizations. What they didn’t say was – Turning Point USA isn’t about that change that.
Cleveland Hopkins won’t air the Kristi Noem TSA video blaming Democrats for government shutdown: “CLE cannot display the Department of Homeland Security video,” Megan O’Connell, assistant director for marketing, communications and guest experience, told Cleveland.com. “As a publicly operated facility, CLE is not permitted to display content that could be viewed as political or partisan.”
