Schools are closed for students on Monday, November 3, for a school planning day, and Tuesday, November 4, for a teacher workday.

Schools are also closed Tuesday, November 11 in honor of Veterans Day.

 Field Day is Now November 5!

Our annual field day will now be held Wednesday, November 5!  There will be three sessions:

Field Day Schedule:

4th/5th grades- 9:05-10:45

1st/3rd grades- 11:00-12:40

K/2nd grades- 1:15-3:00

Thank you for sending your students to school wearing PE clothing and sneakers! 


Nominations Now Open for the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards! 

To submit a nomination for a Parklawn Outstanding Employee, please complete the nomination through this Parklawn Outstanding Employees Nominations Form .

You may nominate up to one employee per category.

The deadline to submit a nomination is November 7, 2025

Outstanding Teacher  

Eligibility: Has at least three years of experience as a teacher (in any school/school district); librarians are included in this category

Outstanding New Teacher 

Eligibility: Has up to three years of experience as a teacher (in any school/school district); librarians are included in this category

Outstanding Principal

Eligibility: Has at least three years of experience as a building principal (in any school/school district) 

Outstanding New Principal

Eligibility: Has up to three years of experience as a building principal (in any school/school district) 

Outstanding Leader  

Eligibility: At least one year of experience in their current position 

Positions in this category include Assistant Principal, Associate Principal, Director of Student Services, Director of Student Activities 
 

Outstanding Professional Employee  

Eligibility: At least one year experience in current position 

Positions in this category include Resource Teacher and Special Education Department Chair and Multilingual Learners Department Chair who serve in a non-instructional role for more than 50% of their time, After-School Specialist, Assessment Coach, Athletic Trainer, Career Center Specialist, Career Experience Specialist, College and Career Specialist, Crisis Resource Teacher, Instructional Coach, School-Based Technology Specialist, Technology Support Specialist, Psychologist, Reading Specialist, Safety and Security Specialist, Social Worker, Speech Language Pathologist, School Counselor, Systems of Support Administrator, or other employee paid as a Resource Teacher who serves in a non-instructional or administrative role in the school)  

Outstanding Operational Employee 

Eligibility: At least one year of experience in current position

Positions in this category include Administrative Assistant, Office Assistant, Student Information Assistant, Finance Technician, School Finance Assistant, Student Services Assistant, Registrar, Custodian, Building Supervisor, Operating Engineer, Food Services staff, Instructional Assistant, Family Liaison, Public Health Training Assistant, Safety and Security Assistant, and all hourly employees*

November Perfect 10 Attendance!

Our first Perfect 10 attendance challenge of the 2025-2026 school year was a great success! We had over 600 students who had perfect attendance and arrive on time in September! All of these students received a certificate, and raffle winners will be joining Ms. Forgy for a breakfast celebration!

Our next Perfect 10 Challenge will take place November 10-24! We hope to see students at school each and every day on time and ready for learning!


Monthly Family Market is November 13!

Come visit Parklawn’s Monthly Family Market on Thursday, November 13th! We’re partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank to offer fresh produce and dry goods to members of the Parklawn community, free of charge. Groceries are available on a first-come first-serve basis. We’ll see you there!

Where: At Parklawn!

Time: 5-7 pm (or when groceries run out)

What: The Capital Area Food Bank will be providing fresh produce and dry goods for the school community.

Help keep our market smooth and safe!

  • The front door will open at 5 pm. The line will form at door 1.
  • Please allow time for our student dismissal and not arrive before 4pm.
  • We encourage you bring reusable bags for your goods!
  • Children joining their caregivers will remain with the adults at all times

PTA Meeting: November 13!

The November Parklawn PTA meeting is Thursday, November 13 at 4:15 in the library. Our special guest will be Ms. Christine Lively, our new librarian!


Parklawn Thanksgiving Luncheon

The annual Thanksgiving Luncheon is Thursday, November 20!! Families are welcome to join their children for the luncheon. The price for each meal is $5.00 per guest, which includes all non-Parklawn children and adults. We will accept cash only. You also may bring your own lunch or choose not to participate in the meal. All meals must be prepaid using the payment form being sent home on Wednesday, November 5. The payment and pre-payment form must be returned by Monday, November 17.  No payments will be accepted at the door.  Please review the grade level meal schedules located on the back of the flyer sent home in the Tuesday folder.

Thanksgiving lunch
