In the spirit of our Fall Parade, the 5th grade team celebrated corn of all varieties.
Dear Churchill Road Families,
What a fantastic way to end the first quarter with our Fall Parade last Friday.  The students and staff outdid themselves with their creativity and enthusiasm.  Thank you to the many families that cheered them on around the track.
In the past few weeks,
- Our PTA celebrated staff with a delicious Chick-fil-A luncheon.

- Third graders enjoyed a show at the Alden Theater and our first graders had hands-on experiences at the Fair Oaks Science Center.

Looking ahead,
- Fourth graders will be heading to the Kennedy Center to hear the National Symphony Orchestra later this week.

- School will be closed November 11 in honor of Veteran's Day.

- November 12 is our next 3-hour early release day.

- Thursday, November 20 is our Thanksgiving luncheon - all are welcome to join us for lunch

- Friday, November 21 is International Night

We hope you enjoy the beautiful fall weather and hope to see you at one of our upcoming school events
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pierson-Barr and Mr. Kilpatrick

Eagle Scout Builds Weather Station for Outdoor Classroom
Thanks to the efforts of Eagle Scout candidate and former Churchill Road alum Dylan T., Churchill Road students will have a new whiteboard and weather station as part of their outdoor classroom.  Dylan created a proposal and submitted the design to FCPS for approval.  Once installed, students will be able to monitor weather conditions and use the whiteboard for lessons.
Thank you to Dylan for his perseverance and skill in completing this project.

      Notes from the Office
Please help us ensure everything runs smoothly by following these tips:
- Please do not send your child in with any glass water bottles or containers.  These items are a potential safety hazard.

- The latest time for early pickups is 2:45 p.m.

- When reporting a student illness, please be specific about the symptoms your child is experiencing.

Thank you for your help.

Thanksgiving Luncheon on November 20 Join Us and Volunteer!
Join Us
Please join your child and their class in celebrating Thanksgiving Lunch. We ask that you kindly RSVP by November 6.   Although not required to attend, your RSVP will assist our cafeteria staff have a general idea of attendance to prepare enough food for the day.  Thank you!
If you are joining your child for lunch, please be sure that your child’s MySchoolBucks lunch account has sufficient funds to pay for both you and your child, because we will not be able to accept cash or charge cards that day.  This is the easiest way to keep the lunch lines short.
The cost for lunch is $5.00 for adults and $3.25 for students.
Check out the Thanksgiving Lunch Schedule to see when your child will be in the cafeteria.
Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to help out in the cafeteria outside of your child’s assigned lunch time to either serve food in our kitchen or be a host in our dining room. All parent volunteers will get a free lunch! We would be very THANKFUL for your help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A45ACAB2AA7FC1-59623672-thanksgiving

Churchill Chorus Students are Spooktacular
The Churchill singers are 5th graders London B, Lyla B, Emily Rose G, Briana H, Emma P, Kaia P, Emilia R, Zeeava S, Elizabeth S,  and 6th graders Evelyn L and Grayson S.
Eleven CRS Chorus members performed with the Cooper choir at their Halloween Spooktacular Concert last Tuesday night.  The students learned the song "Chilly Bones Blues" during chorus class and performed it in costume with the Cooper choral students.  Can you spot the Churchill students on the risers?
