Here’s the short strategy I use that consistently gets real responses:

1 Trigger. 1 Problem. 1 Question.

That’s it. No pitch. No PDF. No seven-line value prop.

Just a sharp reason to reach out, one real-world pain, and a question worth answering.

Why it works

It reads like a peer, not a pitch.
It’s personalized without being creepy.
And it shows I’ve actually done my homework.

Most sellers try to sell in the first email.
I try to start a conversation.

Here’s the exact framework

Trigger = What just happened? Job change, funding, new hire, public post, product launch.

Problem = What pain likely comes with that? Hiring = ramp pressure. Funding = pressure to grow fast. New VP = building fresh GTM.

Question = What’s the smartest thing I could ask? Something that shows I get it and opens a door to talk.

Now the example

SUBJECT: hiring AEs fast: how’s ramping looking?

"Hey Sam, saw you're adding 4 AEs this quarter.

Usually that means outbound is heating up and ramp speed becomes a bottleneck.

Curious: do you already have a plan to get new reps producing by Q1?

Happy to share what’s working if you're tackling that now"

Simple. Specific. Reply-worthy.
