Army orders 60 Chinook helicopters
Boeing has received an $876 million contract from the U.S. Army to deliver up to 60 CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters, including logistics, training and engineering support. The helicopters will be produced in Pennsylvania, with the contract completion slated for 2035.

Ore. airport seeks grant for runway upgrades
Madras Municipal Airport in Oregon has applied for a $150,000 grant to upgrade runways, focusing on sealing surfaces to ensure smooth operations during fire season. The airport is a key air attack hub for wildfire fighting, and the project aims to keep runways clear of debris generated by firefighting aircraft. Construction on a new hangar is also planned for early 2026.

GE Aerospace testing hybrid-electric propulsion system
GE Aerospace has begun comprehensive testing of its hybrid-electric propulsion system, based on the Passport turbofan and part of NASA's Hybrid Thermally Efficient Core program. The tests are evaluating the system's ability to manage power in various operational configurations, including extracting and inserting power during simulated flight phases. Notably, the setup can function without reliance on batteries, addressing a key limitation in current aviation hybrid technologies.

Former record-setting pilot Matt Guthmiller has returned to the skies in Disney+'s "The Worst Trip Around the World," flying with comedian Juanpa Zurita.
