MJ moonwalked into his 6th* Billboard Top 10 decade
Why it matters: The public's shift to consuming their music via streaming has affected the Billboard Top 10, since holiday playlists affect the rankings more strongly than they used to. This worked out well for Michael Jackson's catalog, which notched its sixth decade having a Billboard Top 10 entry when "Thriller" ascended the charts this year. Now there's a feat that's neither as easy as "1, 2, 3" nor as simple as "do re mi."
*Seventh if you count "I Want You Back" with the Jackson 5 in 1969.

"Campsgiving" folks decided on a more nature-filled holiday
Why it matters: A survey by Kampgrounds of America shows that 68% of Generation Z members and 66% of millennials are open to celebrating Friendsgiving in the outdoors, with 39% "definitely" considering a campground setting. Respondents listed chili, bratwurst and pumpkin pie as the types of foods they would eat, as they praised the idea of an "immersive outdoor experience" over hotels.

Toads leapfrogged the tadpole stage, produced "toadlets"
Why it matters: Three newly-identified toad species in Tanzania give birth to live young, skipping the frogspawn and tadpole stages -- an "exceptionally rare" trait among toads and frogs. The findings hold important clues regarding conservation strategies amid climate change and the damage done by human activities.
