But wait.

Before you go off to wonderland and start discovering a new world...

Maybe you wanna learn a thing or two about this new adventure of yours?

If so then this will paint the best picture for you:

My First gynecology appointment

I get a phone call one evening "Hello Georgia? This is Jenny. Calling to remind you about your gynecology appointment tomorrow."

Silence.

"Georgia. You there?"

Took me a minute to understand what was happening here.

I took a deep breath...

"Yes. This is Georgia. I'll come."

I tried to sound like a woman.

Jenny said "OK" and that was that.

Guess who my next phone call was to?

Maria. My wife.

(That's Maria and I on a beautiful coast somewhere in Portugal - trying to look cool)

"Maria!" I told her over the phone.

I never call her by her name -- Maria (but that's a story for a different email) so she understood something was up.

"Why do I have a gynecology appointment for tomorrow? I asked.

"Oh that's tomorrow? Thank you my love!"

And hung up.

Maria was gaming the system

She used my insurance account to schedule a doctor.

She did this several times.

Why?

Because she was gaming the system twice.

She was gaming the insurance system because it didn't let her schedule an appointment AND try to call directly to the doctor to try and get a direct appointment by gaming the person.

(Getting an appointment would usually take months and she needed it NOW).

But why am I telling you this?

Because of this:

The airport incident

We had to get to the airport 4 hours before our flight.

We got there an hour and a half before the flight.

A PROBLEM.

A line of (literally) 400-500 people.

What do we do now?

We game the system.

Here's what we did:

We saw a guy who worked at the airport letting people through without standing in line. We were in line about 40 people away from this guy.

I told Maria to step aside and not move forward with the line.

Left our luggage near her. And kept moving forward...

Until I finally got to the guy.

I stood with my back to him. As if I didn't notice him.

Letting some people walk past me...

I let about 10 people walk by...

When I turned around and tried to move through the "second entrance" this guy was taking people in through. As if I was supposed to just walk through. No questions asked.

When he asked me what I was doing...

I said "Oh sorry sorry sorry. Is this not how this works? OH MY GOD my wife's gonna kill me"...

... Pointing to my wife who looked tired with two huge luggage bags.

Now remember.

He saw me letting people through.

He's an older guy. Understands the relationship between men and women (let's call it that - wink wink).

So what did he do?

He let us through. She skipped the line - came to us - and we went through. Without standing in line.

Magic ah?

And here's what I'm getting at:

CopyThinking is a way of life.

I want you to understand the mindset behind this term.

Writing copy that sells is the tip of the iceberg.

That's not where it begins.

It begins with understanding human beings.

Understanding how to take advantage of situations.

• Understanding dynamics.

• Understanding how things work.

• And how you can find a relative advantage in ANY situation. In life. Business. And copy.

So now after all my mumbling...
