We asked ‘Abbott Elementary’ star Quinta Brunson what to give teachers

According to Quinta Brunson — creator and star of Abbott Elementary and daughter of a former Philadelphia public-school educator — what teachers really want is anything they’d never buy themselves. A little luxury that’s not quite essential, but will definitely deliver joy and comfort in (and out of) the classroom. Some of Quinta’s recs:

  • A rich, skin-saving salve: This luxe, sweet-smelling moisturizer — one of our favorite self-care gifts — feels great, smells lovely, and falls squarely in the “too nice to buy for themselves” category.
  • A massage gun for tired muscles: “My mom, she barely sat at her desk,” says Quinta. “She was always up, and especially if they have younger students, they just keep them on their toes — literally.” A portable massager, like this powerful mini one our experts love, can soothe sore muscles after a long day on their feet.
  • When in doubt, give cash: Delivering it in some gorgeous packaging, like this exquisitely pretty botanical pop-up card, can make it feel warmer.
