Fairfax County is working with Oryx Solutions on assessing the programs, initiatives, and partnerships in place to prevent and end homelessness. Oryx will collect input via community engagement activities, including meetings, events, online surveys, and other engagement techniques. All critical parties involved in preventing and ending homelessness will have opportunities to share their input and ideas, including people experiencing homelessness, homeless service providers, the Continuum of Care board, and the community at large.
The resulting information will inform recommended strategies that strengthen the community’s response to homelessness. The final report will be presented to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for their consideration.
This December, we want to hear from you. Join a Listening Session to share what’s working, what’s not, and what could help people stay housed or return to housing more quickly. Visit the website below to see all dates, times, and locations. Your voice can help shape this important plan.

Since 2005, the Hypothermia Prevention Program has prevented death and serious injuries among Fairfax County’s most vulnerable residents by ensuring that no one must sleep outside during the winter months. The program is available to any adult in need of immediate shelter beginning countywide on December 1, 2025 and ending on March 31, 2026.

The Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development’s Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (HCD OPEH) announced contract agreements with new partners to provide homelessness services.

These employees will have the opportunity to interview with the new partner agencies. HCD OPEH and partners will be rolling out the procedures to do so in the coming days.
HCD OPEH also named nonprofit partners for other services provided by the agency. All contract specifics can be found on Fairfax County’s contract register. A map of Fairfax County Human Services Regions can be found online, as well.
