A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Chantilly Community,

Happy Friday! WE are so grateful for our Chantilly community and the ways in which WE work together and care for one another.

Thank a Charger

As Thanksgiving Break approaches, our thoughts turn to gratitude and it is a great time to thank those around us who impact our lives.  Please take a moment to recognize a staff or faculty member in our Charger community by writing a note of thanks. Share your note here.

Student Safety - Arrival and Dismissal Drop off and Pick Up

Student driver and pedestrian safety is our priority at Chantilly High School. We are asking for your partnership in talking with your child about the importance of following these procedures and obeying traffic laws.

  • Only using marked crosswalks to cross a street, especially a busy street like Stringfellow Road.
  • Not dropping off or picking up students on Stringfellow Road, but instead using the designated drop-off and pick-up area at our school.
  • Following the directions of Chantilly security staff, crossing guards, and Fairfax County Police officers at all times.

Family Engagement Month Activities

We are now in week 2 of our Family Engagement Month activities.  Please remember we want to share your activity on our CHS Facebook page or you can send to Mrs. Gonzalez at hgonzalez@fcps.edu so she can add to it.

Just in case you lost the information, we have included the activities list.  Here is the google link as well.

Action Required! Update Your Permission for Google Tools

Google recently made changes to how educational applications are managed and accessed on the Chrome Browser and Chromebooks. Many applications are moving from the Chrome Web Store to the Google Play Store.

To ensure your student(s) can continue accessing all approved instructional tools, FCPS has updated its digital consent platform to include both the Chrome Web Store and the Google Play Store.

Please review and provide your consent for these two new options through our easy-to-use Parent Digital Consent system:

  • Additional Google Services – Chrome Web Store
  • Additional Google Services – Google Play Store

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting safe and effective digital learning experiences for all students.

For questions or support, please visit FCPS’ Family Technology Resources page or open a ticket with the Technical Support desk.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon.

Sincerely,

Amy T. Goodloe, Ed.D.

Principal, Chantilly HS

Community Meal Nights Hosted by FCPS

The FCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services will host dinners for our students, families, and anyone in the community who needs a meal this month! These dinners will offer a welcoming environment where families can connect over a warm meal.

Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving-inspired dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. on:

Meals will be offered at no cost for both children and adults on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is required, and you do not need to be an FCPS student or family to receive a meal.

Learn more about the meal and view the full menu.

School Photos are now online!

Families should have received an E-proof via email.

Please remember to check your junk folder!.

For any questions about your student's school pictures please contact: underclass@vosphoto.com

The team at Victor O’Neill Studios would like to thank Chantilly High School for a great picture day!

Checking out early?

The best and most efficient way to check your student out of school early is to send a note with them to take to their Subschool Office in the morning! Or call your child's subschool before 9 AM to request early dismissal. You can find the phone numbers at the bottom of this email and on the Chantilly Attendance page.

  • Your student will receive a pass to leave class at the time you specify.
  • You won't need to come inside the school; your student will simply come out to meet you.

Please be aware that if you sign your student out in person, it can take up to 30 minutes for the pass to reach them, making sending a note the quickest option!

Important Reminders:

  • Email is not accepted for reporting absences or early checkouts.
  • If a student becomes sick during the school day, they must be checked out through the clinic, not the attendance office.

SEL Screener Reports

Social and Emotional Learning Screener: Parent Reports

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener last month, providing information on skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.

Individual student SEL Screener results will be available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE the week of November 17. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be shared by our school.

For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to school staff.

Volunteer FCPS

Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools

The new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities at our school or across the school district.

Volunteer FCPS is how FCPS provides a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. Anyone interested in volunteering with FCPS must:

  • Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
  • Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
  • Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk on EVERY visit – no exceptions.

Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity LevelsDue to the overwhelming response, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.

Field trip chaperone opportunities will now be classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting).

To ensure continuous safety, all new volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal confirmation that you have no history of violent felonies, physical or sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude (dishonesty, fraud, things that are immoral by society’s standards).

Visit the Volunteer FCPS website to complete a volunteer orientation. View Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
