Students in our Cosmetology program partnered with a local non-profit, She Believes in Me, to host a Cut-a-Thon supporting local families this week. During the event, our future Professional Hair Dressers offered a free shampoo, cut, and blow dry to children from the community and their families. The event was planned, organized, and led by two of our Level 2 Cosmetology students, Leora and Owen, whose leadership brought this amazing service project to life.
The students created a welcoming environment in the salon where clients could enjoy not only free hair services but also complimentary snacks and sandwich wraps. Over the course of the three-hour event, students served many clients. As we look ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday, we are reminded of the impact our students can have and we take great pride in how they chose to serve the community this week. We are incredibly proud of our Cosmetology students who generously contributed their skills and time to make this event a success!
Practical training, which includes hands-on drills and simulations, is in full swing for our Student Firefighters.
Teachers for Tomorrow 2 students have begun their student-teaching experiences in nearby FCPS schools. The student teacher pictured here is completing her internship hours in an elementary Multilingual Learner classroom.
Criminal Justice 2 students recently took a field trip to the Fairfax County Courthouse and Adult Detention Center to learn about our local judicial system.
Students from four of our feeder middle schools visited Chantilly Academy this week to learn about our course offerings and participate in hands-on activities led by Chantilly Academy students.
Exploring Health Science students practiced manual resuscitation using a bag valve mask.
Medical Assistant students learned how to properly fit and teach patients to use assistive devices including crutches, walkers, canes, and wheel chairs.
