RVES News and Notes - November 21

November 21 - News and Notes!

Rolling Valley Families,

It’s been a full and busy week at RVES! We kicked things off with a great turnout at the Pyramid Challenge, followed by a strong first day of Book Fair sales. Thank you to everyone who supported these events, whether by volunteering your time or showing up to participate.

We also held our November PTA meeting. Thank you to those who were able to attend. Be sure to check out the PTA section for a link to our new RVES merchandise!

One of the highlights of the week was our Thanksgiving Lunch. We were thrilled to welcome so many families into the school. It’s always wonderful to have you here and share these moments together.

As we look ahead to next week, a reminder that school will be in session only on Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving break begins.

Have a great weekend!

Veronica Del Bagno

Rolling Valley Elementary School Principal

Full-Time AAP

Referral Deadline

Window for Full-Time AAP Referrals Closes on December 15

Parents and guardians of students in Grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) services must submit the AAP Full-Time Referral Form to Krystyn Carey at krcarey@fcps.edu.no later than December 15, 2025.

Each year, families can submit a referral for full-time AAP services any time from the first day of school through December 15. No late referrals for full-time AAP services will be accepted.

Once a referral is received, our school will compile information related to the student. Then, a committee of six trained professionals from across the county will review materials to determine eligibility for full-time AAP services.

Next Steps for Parents

Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April. Parents may request a copy of their child’s materials after February 20, 2026, by emailing Krystyn Carey at krcarey@fcps.edu.

At the elementary level, referrals for subject-specific and part-time AAP are screened by the school. If you miss the full-time referral deadline, your student can still be screened for subject-specific or part-time AAP services for the remainder of the year.

At the middle school level, honors courses are open to all students.

For more information, please visit the Advanced Academic Programs webpage.

✅ Please Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

Please return your Federal Impact Aid forms! If you cannot find yours, please reach out to Laura Vargas in the front office. She can send you another copy. You can also complete the form online in your ParentVue account. A form is required from every student. Fairfax County Public Schools has received over three million dollars from the federal government in past years. Thank you so much for your help.
