Louisiana's inland wetlands, which make up nearly 60% of the state's wetland area, face heightened risk under the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed changes to the waters of the US rule. The new definitions could remove federal and state protections from many of these areas, particularly those separated from waterways by levees or future construction. Tampa Bay Water has reached its goal of conserving 1 million gallons of water per day through the Water Wise initiative, which began in 2020.
