Message from Principal Burke

Hello Edison Families,

All I can say is WOW! Our cast of Chicago knocked it out of the park. You could feel the emotions from the characters jump right off the stage, and having the live band right there on stage pushed it to a whole new level. A huge shout out to Jeff Walker and his team of leaders for putting together such a powerful show. They gave our community something special to cheer for.

Yesterday our staff took on another role and spent their lunch period serving Thanksgiving lunch to students. This is a tradition we started last year with the admin team, and we grew it this year to include all staff. The looks on students’ faces when they realize their teachers, support staff, and administrators are the ones handing them their meal is priceless. It is a small moment that says a lot about the relationships we value here.

On November 13, 2025, at the school board meeting, Edison was recognized for earning our Purple Star designation. Thank you again to Ms. Mahan, Mr. Schlemmer, and Mrs. Hagan for completing our application packet. Their work helps us continue supporting our military-connected students and families.

Thank you to all of our community members and students who nominated staff for Edison’s Outstanding Employee of the Year awards. Your nominations mean a lot to the staff who show up for our students every day.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

  • Operational Employee of the Year: Julian Gaither, Safety and Security
  • Professional Employee of the Year: Corinne Nuttall, MYP Coordinator and Reading Specialist
  • Leader of the Year: Cait Saxton, Assistant Principal
  • New Teacher of the Year: Aaron King, Academy Teacher
  • Teacher of the Year: Morgan Intrieri, Special Education Teacher

Next week is a short one, with school on Monday and Tuesday before we head into the Thanksgiving break. Before we all scatter to wherever the holiday takes us, I want to take a moment to say how grateful I am for this community. You show up for everything, big or small. Our students have the strongest cheer section around, and you can see what it does for them. Your support matters.

Thank you for working alongside me and our staff to support learning. Over the past three years, we have made real progress in school culture, behavior, attendance, and academics. That only happens when families, students, and staff move in the same direction. Thank you for trusting us with your children every day.

Wishing you and your families a warm and restful Thanksgiving.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Burke

Theatre Department Presents Chicago

the letters CHICAGO

The theatre department is ready to make your night a little jazzier and add some “Razzle dazzle” when we present CHICAGO Nov. 20-22. This classic musical set in the seedy world of 1920s vaudeville where being a celebrity means you probably also have a criminal record, features a cast of 35, a crew of 35 and … A LIVE ORCHESTRA – our first since 2018! The performing arts department is proud to offer this show to our community.

General admission tickets are $10 to $15. (Recommended age is 12 and up.)

Get your advanced tickets here!

Performance dates:

11/20 at 7pm; 11/21 at 7pm; 11/22 at 2 pm

Helping Edison Families

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it is a crucial time to support our Edison community. The PTSA Food Pantry Initiatives Committee directly supports families during the school break by providing gift cards for groceries to help make the break from school easier for families experiencing food insecurity.

Your donation of any amount will directly support Edison families. If you are able, please visit our fundraiser here.  — donations are needed by the end of tomorrow (Saturday).

The support and dedication of our entire Edison community help our students succeed. Thank you for your generosity and for making Edison a strong and vibrant community!
