A Message from the Principal

Greetings, Irving Families -

I am thrilled to share that our Cross Country team had an outstanding finish to the season. Congratulations to Liam F., Aydin B., Baraa Z., Audrey Y., and Annabelle H. for finishing in the top 15 of the championship races - they each won individual medals. I also want to congratulate our girls’ team who placed 3rd overall and our boys team who finished in 2nd place out of all 26 middle schools! We are so proud of their accomplishments this season. Stay tuned for information about our Track and Field Season later this spring.

A reminder that Monday, November 24 and Tuesday, November 25, are Digital Detox Days. Please remind your child they do not need to bring their laptop to school on either of these days unless they need it for an accommodation or medical need. We will have a variety of activities for students that do not require computers on these days. Students should still bring their Yondr pouches for their phones.

Next week, we have Thanksgiving Break, November 26-28, and we want to make sure that everyone can take a break and enjoy some downtime. We will not be asking students to complete any work over the break. Upon returning from break, we will not have any projects due or have any tests/quizzes on Monday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 2. We also ask our staff to disconnect from work from November 26-30. During the break, staff will not be available to respond to emails. If you are looking for something academic over break, we recommend that students read each day.

Lastly, since next week is a short week, we will not be sending out our weekly newsletter. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.

Take Care

Cindy Conley

Principal

Bus Passes Unavailable

Due to the number of students on each of our buses, we are NOT able to give out bus passes for students to ride a bus with a friend. We will remind students of this next week during morning announcements and throughout the year. We appreciate your assistance with also sharing this information with your child.

Window for Full-Time AAP Referrals Closes on December 15

Parents and guardians of students in Grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) services must submit the AAP Full-Time Referral Form to Katie Richter no later than December 15, 2025.

Each year, families can submit a referral for full-time AAP services any time from the first day of school through December 15. No late referrals for full-time AAP services will be accepted.

Once a referral is received, our school will compile information related to the student. Then, a committee of six trained professionals from across the county will review materials to determine eligibility for full-time AAP services.

Next Steps for Parents

Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April. Parents may request a copy of their child’s materials after February 20, 2026, by emailing Katie Richter.

At the middle school level, honors courses are open to all students.

For more information, please visit the Advanced Academic Programs webpage.
