The Comey Indictment Dismissal ExplainedPreet Bharara & I will get together for a Substack Live at 5:30 pm ESTSo many of you have asked us to make sense of the dismissal of the prosecutions of Jim Comey and Letitia James in orders that came out midafternoon today that Preet Bharara and I decided to get together this evening at 5:30 pm EST for a little emergency law talk. The dismissal orders were issued by South Carolina Judge Cameron Currie, who was asked by the Chief Judge of the Fourth Circuit to consider the defendant’s challenge to the appointment procedure used to install Lindsey Halligan as the U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. Judge Currie concluded that she had not been, and that the appropriate remedy was to dismiss the complaint without prejudice. Preet and I will discuss the implications of that decision and the likely next steps with you tonight.
