Stay Current with SAP Commerce Cloud Update Releases

The SAP Commerce Cloud 2211 continuous innovation release model offers substantial benefits to our customers by ensuring faster access to the latest features, enhancements, and security updates. This approach allows for seamless and frequent updates, minimizing disruptions while maintaining a robust and high-performing e-commerce platform. Our customers can take advantage of new innovations quickly, stay ahead of market demands, and maintain competitive agility, all while reducing the risk associated with traditional major version cycles.

Consider the following key aspects when working with SAP technology:

• Stay current with SAP Commerce Cloud monthly and Framework Update Releases
• Stay current on Composable Storefront and compatible with its dependencies (Node.js, Angular)
• Review validity and compatibility of all features, services, and updates (e.g. Solr, Extensions)

#1 – Stay Current with SAP Commerce Cloud Update Releases

Staying up to date with SAP Commerce Cloud 2211 and Composable Storefront ensures that our customers remain current with the latest enhancements, software updates, and bug fixes.

To assist our customers to prepare for upcoming changes and implementations, SAP publishes the Notification of Key Technical Updates on the SAP Help Portal. This continuously updated documentation highlights when changes are available, including features and services that offer an adoption window. SAP is committed to supporting your planning strategies, so we encourage you to bookmark this page and check it frequently to stay current with the latest updates.

Commerce Cloud:

As of September 2025, you can download the latest version of SAP Commerce Cloud and gain access to the latest functionality provided by Java 21 and Spring 6, while running the most secure and high-performance platform.

To remain supported and avoid build failures, SAP advises adopting the Framework Update no later than June 30, 2026, when the final Java 17 release reaches end of support coverage. If that is not possible, ensure the update is completed by August 31, 2026, after which new builds targeting Java 17 will be disallowed. Note: the update removes deprecated extensions and modules and could necessitate code refactoring or configuration updates.

• OAuth replacement - The existing OAuth capability has been rebuilt on current Spring libraries.
• Drools Update - The previous Drools version 8.44.0.Final is incompatible with Spring 6, as the Java EE API has been upgraded to the Jakarta EE API in Spring 6.
• Deprecation of Extensions with the Framework Update
• SAP has removed several extensions from Commerce Cloud and from the Integration Extension Pack due to incompatibilities with the newest versions of Java and the Spring framework. Replacement solutions already exist for each use case and are documented on the SAP Help Portal. These deprecated extensions are highlighted on the Key Technical Updates help page.
