Online Product Calendar — The U.S. Census Bureau provides anticipated release dates for its regular and recurring statistical products through its online product calendar. This calendar is regularly updated to reflect the most current information.
American Community Survey
2024 American Community Survey Updates — The U.S. Census Bureau will release the remaining 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) estimates in the coming months. The next data release (Dec. 4) will include the 2024 ACS 1-year Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files and the 2024 ACS 1-year Supplemental Estimates. It will be followed by release of the 2020-2024 ACS 5-year estimates to embargo subscribers Jan. 27, 2026, and to the public Jan. 29. The Census Bureau will host a prerelease webinar prior to the embargo of the 2020-2024 5-year estimates. The last release of 2020-2024 ACS 5-year PUMS files is set for March 5. The updated release schedule is available online.
Demographic
Census Bureau to Release New Estimates on America’s Families and Living Arrangements — The U. S. Census Bureau will release its most recent America’s Families and Living Arrangements tables, featuring new estimates showing how households have changed over the past 50 years. The release will highlight one-person households, married-couple households and households with children. (Scheduled for release December 2.)
International Database — The U.S. Census Bureau will release new population estimates, projections and other demographic data up to the year 2100 for 34 countries and areas in the International Database (IDB). The IDB consists of estimates and projections of demographic indicators, including population size and growth (by sex and single year of age up to 100-plus) and components of change (mortality, fertility and net international migration) for more than 220 countries and areas. The Census Bureau periodically updates the IDB as new data become available. (Scheduled for release December 11.)
Vintage 2025 Population Estimates — The U.S. Census Bureau is providing an updated release schedule for the Vintage 2025 population estimates due to the recent lapse in federal funding. The first set of Vintage 2025 population estimates is scheduled to be released Jan. 27. This release will include national and state population and demographic components of population change; Puerto Rico Commonwealth population and demographic components of population change; and national, state and Puerto Rico Commonwealth population age 18 and over. The annual population and housing unit estimates are released on a flow basis throughout the year. For more information, visit population estimates and release schedule. “Getting Started with the PSEO and QWI API” — The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute, welcome Tyson Weister as he presents, “Getting Started with the PSEO and QWI API.” This presentation explores the Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) and the Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI) application programming interface (API), a tool for accessing workforce data, including employment, earnings and job trends. Weister will cover the API structure, key parameters and how to construct queries. A live demonstration will provide practical experience to help users retrieve and analyze labor market data effectively for research. (Scheduled December 3.)
“Unemployment Insurance Employment Outcomes (UIEO): The Composition and Re-employment Dynamics of UI Claimants” — The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute welcomes Lawrence Warren and David Wasser as they present, “Unemployment Insurance Employment Outcomes (UIEO): The Composition and Re-employment Dynamics of UI Claimants.” This project provides insights into when displaced workers return to jobs, which industries they enter and how their earnings evolve. Join our webinar to learn how this innovative use of unemployment insurance claims and the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) data can inform our understanding of the role of workers and employers in shaping re-employment outcomes and provide actionable insights to policy makers, researchers and workforce professionals. (Scheduled December 17.)
2023 Annual Integrated Economic Survey — The U.S. Census Bureau will release the main set of data from the 2023 Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES), offering the first single, comprehensive annual snapshot of U.S. employer businesses (those with paid employees). The AIES provides economic data – including business revenue, expenses and assets – at detailed geographies for many sectors previously only available nationally. The release includes data at the national, regional and divisional levels, with state-level estimates available for selected sectors. (Scheduled for release January 22.)
Business Trends and Outlook Survey — The Business Trends and Outlook Survey (BTOS) measures business conditions on an ongoing basis. BTOS experimental data products are representative of all employer businesses other than farms in the U.S. economy. The data allow greater insight into the state of the economy by providing continuous, timely information for key economic measures. Data are released biweekly and are available by sector, state, employment size and the 25 most populous metropolitan statistical areas. New questions on artificial intelligence were added November 17 and will be released in 2026.

Census Bureau Releases New Geospatial Data Products — September 23 — The Census Bureau released new Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER)/Line files. Among them: updated Shapefiles, Geodatabase, GeoPackages formats, allowing data users to create custom, thematic maps from a variety of data sources.
2026 Census Test
Census Bureau Jobs Available for the 2026 Census Test — October 6 — The U.S. Census Bureau has launched an effort to hire approximately 1,500 temporary field workers to support operations across six test sites for the 2026 Census Test. This effort is based on a temporary hiring waiver granted by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The 2026 Census Test is the Census Bureau’s first major opportunity to test new and enhanced activities in preparation for achieving a complete and accurate count in the 2030 Census.

Women’s Living Arrangements at First Birth — November 19 — A larger share of women had their first child while living with an unmarried partner in the early 2020s than in the early 1990s, according to the new Women’s Living Arrangements at First Birth report released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The report describes women’s living arrangements (i.e., married, cohabiting, neither married nor cohabiting) at the time of their first birth and how they differed by educational attainment, race and ethnicity from the early 1990s to the early 2020s.
Census Bureau Releases Intercensal Estimates by Demographic Characteristics: 2010-2020 — September 30 — The U.S. Census Bureau released the 2010-2020 Intercensal Estimates by demographic characteristics. Intercensal estimates are produced once every 10 years and are released after the decennial census.
2024 New Foreign-Born Population by Generation Data Tables — September 29 — The U.S. Census Bureau released new data tables from the 2024 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). These tables provide information on employment status, education, occupation, household income, poverty status, race, age and sex, and other social and economic statistics for the foreign-born population by generation.
The Centenarian 2020 Special Report — September 22 — The Census Bureau released the new Centenarians: 2020 special report. The report provides an updated portrait of the centenarian population in the United States and is based on age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, living arrangements and geographic distribution information from the 2020 Census. The characteristic profile and geographic distribution of centenarians are compared with those of other age groups in the older population to illustrate how centenarians are distinct.

Characteristics of Employer and Nonemployer Businesses — November 20 — The U.S. Census Bureau released new estimates on the characteristics of employer, nonemployer, and total business owners. Combined data from the Annual Business Survey (ABS), which provides demographic statistics of employer businesses (those with paid employees), and the Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics (NES-D), businesses without paid employees, will provide a complete picture of U.S. business owner demographics, including sex, race, ethnicity and veteran status. In addition, for the first time ever, data will include estimates on the number of firms by owner characteristics, sector, and congressional districts for employer businesses. The ABS is conducted jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES).
2024 Annual Survey of School System Finances First Look — November 13 — The U.S. Census Bureau released a first look at data from the 2024 Annual Survey of School System Finances. The preliminary data provide initial insight into public school spending per pupil (pre-K through 12th grade) and state-level summary statistics on school system revenues and expenditures for the 2024 fiscal year.
Census Bureau Celebrates 14th Anniversary of Manufacturing Day — September 30 — The U.S. Census Bureau promoted a series of data products to recognize the manufacturing sector’s importance and vast contribution to the nation’s economy. The weeklong celebration ends on Manufacturing Day, observed annually (the first Friday in October since 2011) to showcase the benefits and potential of modern manufacturing and spur interest in manufacturing careers. Dispersion Statistics on Productivity (DiSP) — September 30 — The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released a new version of the experimental data product, Dispersion Statistics on Productivity (DiSP, www.census.gov/disp). The existing DiSP provide information on the within-industry dispersion in productivity at the 4-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) level for the manufacturing sector for 1987 to 2021. The new version of DiSP leverages data from the Economic Census to provide productivity dispersion statistics at the 4-digit NAICS level for the retail sector. The retail sector data are available every five years from 1987-2017.
2023 Business Dynamics Statistics — September 25 — The U.S. Census Bureau released 2023 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS) data in the Census API, data.census.gov, in CSV format on the BDS website and BDS Explorer. The BDS is an annual time series — covering the years 1978 to 2023 — and provides measures of business dynamics (such as job creation and destruction, establishment births and deaths, and firm startups and shutdowns) for the economy, aggregated by establishment and firm characteristics. New for this release, statistics for Puerto Rico for the years 1998 - 2023 are provided as a separate series across 56 datasets.
2025 Annual Government Organization and Structure — September 24 — The U.S. Census Bureau released 2025 Annual Government Organization counts. The release includes three data tables: Government Units by State; Local Governments by Type; and State and Special District Governments by Function and State. Also released: the annual Organization Public Use File for state and local government units, including independent governments, dependent school systems and public pension systems.
