The above drawing was done last week, before the Fake Peace Prize was given to Trump. That’s one that should not have been given. Alina Haba has to resign from her post as NJ US attorney. Habba was Trump’s personal lawyer (in fact I saw her perform in court when I live-drew the E Jean Carroll and the hush money trials in lower Manhattan), and in August became the first of the U.S. attorneys the Trump administration attempted to install without Senate confirmation. She was recently disqualified by a federal judge. Judges have since disqualified Trump-installed U.S. attorneys in the Los Angeles area, Nevada and Virginia. They will appeal, but I doubt her illegal appointment will survive. Politico has an interesting story today about a group of Republicans who hate Trump so much they are working to help Democrats defeat him in the next midterm elections. The group is called the Save America Movement (SAM) and is identifying 10 Republican-controlled House seats to focus on, spanning Alaska to Florida. Co-founded by former Lincoln Project founder Steve Schmidt, SAM wants to pour up to $100 million into as many as 60 GOP-controlled House seats ahead of the midterms. “We can’t truly break the MAGA movement until these Republican members of Congress are more afraid of their own voters than they are of Donald Trump,” said Brandon Hall, a political adviser for the group. Hope they raise what they need. These stories are encouraging. The pressure on Hegseth continues. Democrats are still trying to force the release of the videotapes of the strikes on an alleged drug-running boat, in which all occupants of the boat were killed in two strikes. Rep. Smith called for accountability while Sen. Kaine demanded video of the strikes be released. Sen. Schiff called the strikes “unconstitutional,” and Sen. Duckworth (Ill.) called the strikes “murder.” “Everything that they’ve done has been illegal. It’s illegal under international law. It’s illegal under the Geneva Convention. And it certainly is illegal under domestic law,” Duckworth said. “It was essentially murder with that double tap strike.” The strikes themselves are unconstitutional, and this most recent one that involved a second strike in order to kill two men who were hanging off the boat, was inhumane as well as illegal. Hegseth claims that they needed to be “neutralized,” and my question is what kind of damage could two men hanging off a sinking ship possibly do? Its just horrible. On Friday there was a bizarre award ceremony at the Kennedy Center. FIFA, the global soccer organization, came up with a new award called the FIFA Peace Prize. Guess who got the first ever FIFA Peace Prize? It was ridiculous. It was an embarrassing display of arrogant narcissism. Trump later said in an interview that this prize is “better” than the Nobel Peace Prize. In the video below, you can see trump gleefully grabbing the medal and putting around his own neck. Then they had performers after the ceremony, among them the Village People— so we got to witness Trump dancing to his favorite song, YMCA. Why it’s his favorite song is anybody’s guess. “Infantino’s lickspittle World Cup draw promises a tournament autocrats will love”If you want to read a sharply acerbic account of the fake award evening, The Guardian’s piece is perfect. The headline of the piece is above, I simply love the fact that they used the word lickspittle. I had I had to look it up; I had a feeling I knew what it meant. And the Epstein Files are still not released. If it weren’t so frightening, all of this is very surreal. Is it both? That’s all I’ve got today. Thanks for being here, you guys are the best.
