Roadrunner Rundown

December 15, 2025

Principal's Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

Across all of the books and stories I have read, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol has become my favorite piece of literature. A story that is prominent this time of year but applicable at any time as Scrooge (really any of us) is asked to look back over his life to see who he has been. That reflection inspires a desire to live better and on behalf of humanity. Whether reading or listening to the original text, seeing it on stage, or taking in a filmed version (Spirited is a clever take on the tale), I also connect to a new part and find myself moved.  As we step into the New Year, perhaps we will also be inspired to look back for a time and then live forward for the betterment of those around us. Season's greetings and Happy New Year. See you in 2026!

At this exciting time when students embark on a two week break from school, there are no assignments students are responsible for at this time of year.  Reading is always good, learning happens in so many ways (trips, board games, sharing stories), and rest and relaxation are required.

We would like to give a big shout out to Britton Niesslein who played and sang for our first Friday LUNCH LIVE of the school year. Students and staff enjoyed his music and joined in by singing and clapping. Check out where he is performing at brittonjamesmusic.com. We would like to have other talent shared at our Friday LUNCH LIVE. Please email Karlen Lehman at kslehman@fcps.edu if you or someone you know is interested in performing.

Much peace.

MRES Staff Spotlight - Mr. Reda

Hooray for Mr. Reda, our Technology Specialist who snagged the PTA Priority Parking Spot this week! Mr. Reda has been at MRES for five years! When asked his favorite thing about Marshall Road he said, “My favorite thing about being here is seeing how happy the students, teachers and staff are when I am able to help them with IT.” Outside of school Mr. Reda loves kicking a soccer ball around with his kids, watching good movies, and playing video games! Fun fact: Mr. Reda speaks FOUR languages!

FCPS Communications

Prepare for Winter Weather

Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather closing decisions are made at FCPS. FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated. Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange emergency child care if needed.

Winter Resources for Families

A list of resources has been compiled for students and families in case they or someone they know needs assistance while schools are closed for winter break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources page for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.
