Dear aaa,
The challenge seemed impossible, but together we made history! With supporters like you by our side, FOUR PAWS successfully conducted the largest big cat and bear veterinary assessment in Latin America.
In less than a month, the team performed thorough health checks on 32 lions, 30 tigers and two bears at former Zoo Lujan in Argentina. Now, our experts can turn their attention to long-term solutions for these animals. |

But for the bears, there is no time left to lose.
17-year-old Florencia spent over 15 years without any companionship besides her caretaker. As the former zoo closed its doors to the public, she was left in utter isolation. Desperate for comfort and sensory stimulation, she sleeps for hours upon hours in a small pool in her enclosure – her only source of comfort.
Gordo, however, doesn’t even have that. Weighing nearly 350 kg, he is now confined to a crate of just 4x4 metres. Day after day, he stands or lies in this tiny space, unable to roam, unable to explore, unable to live. His sadness is unmistakable. |
|
Both bears show visible signs of emotional distress, due to their deplorable keeping conditions – where they can barely move, much less hibernate. Our experts have made it clear: their rescue is an urgent, top priority. |
And there is a place ready for them.
We cannot improve the bears' current enclosures to provide them with the long-term care they need, nor are there adequate facilities for them in Argentina. Their only shot at a better life is at BEAR SANCTUARY Belitsa.
They have a chance at a better life. Will you help us rescue them? |
We can already imagine them digging into fresh soil, bathing in pools, playing with stimulating enrichments, being spoiled by their loving caretakers and receiving the lifelong care they deserve after so much suffering. With your help, we can translate that into reality.
Please donate now to give Gordo and Florencia the safe, dignified life they have been denied for far too long.
Thank you for your commitment to this cause! |
Warm regards,
Natalie Hood
