We're continuing to follow the latest in the Brown University shooting investigation, as authorities work to identify a person of interest. We're also following news out of Brookline where an MIT professor was shot and killed in his home. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are our headlines this morning.

New video, timeline shared in Brown University shooting investigation

Investigators are looking to the public for help as they continue trying to identify a person of interest in the Brown University shooting.

Even after receiving 200 tips and examining roughly 1,200 cameras on campus, officials haven’t provided any indication that they are closer to knowing who this person is.

“Our offices, our agents are looking at terabytes of data, and we are looking for a moment that is shorter than someone taking a breath, and so we are asking for public’s assistance in that,” Providence Police Col. Oscar Perez said.

MIT professor killed in shooting at his Brookline home

A well-known MIT nuclear science professor was shot and killed at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts, leaving neighbors, students and colleagues stunned as police search for the person responsible.

Authorities confirmed Professor Nuno F.G. Loureiro, 47, was shot at his home on Gibbs Street.

Loureiro was brought to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Deputy Superintendent Paul Campbell said on Tuesday that he did not survive.

Jamaica Plain shooting leaves person with life-threatening injuries

A person suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting Tuesday night in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

Police responded around 10:51 p.m. to Green Street for a report of a cardiac arrest. Officers arrived to find a person wounded by a gunshot.

The victim was brought to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Market Basket trial gets underway in Delaware with testimony from board chair

The trial dealing with the leadership dispute at New England supermarket chain Market Basket got underway today at a Delaware courthouse.

Fired CEO Arthur T. Demoulas is fighting to get his old job back, while the company’s board of directors is looking to have the court uphold their decision to terminate his job earlier this year.

Boston Globe business reporter Jon Chesto is in Delaware to cover the trial. He joined NBC10 Boston’s podcast, Food Feud: Market Basket, to give us a recap of what happened in court on Tuesday.

Dana-Farber to pay $15 million settlement for research grant fraud allegations

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will pay $15 million to resolve allegations that it made false statements and certifications concerning its research.

Dana-Farber is a cancer research and treatment center headquartered in Boston with locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It receives grant funding from federal sources, including the National Institutes of Health.

The allegations center around a time period from 2014 to 2024. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Massachusetts, the issue focuses on the misuse of images and data in research articles.

16-year-old charged in Canton shooting that left woman seriously hurt

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting Monday night in Canton, Massachusetts, according to authorities.

The teen, whose name was not released publicly, has been charged with attempted murder following the shooting, which sparked a shelter in place order Monday night. The juvenile was taken into custody at around 6 a.m. Tuesday without incident.

The victim was a woman in her 20s. She was said to be seriously hurt, and remains in a Boston hospital receiving treatment.
