It's Wednesday in New York City, where Mayor Eric Adams is set to leave behind a cleaner city than the one he inherited.

Over the last four years, Adams jumpstarted the effort to get piles of trash bags off New York City’s sidewalks and into bins.

But it'll be up to incoming Mayor Zohran Mamdani to complete the job — in part by removing tens of thousands of parking spaces and installing curbside bins outside large buildings.

Here's what stands in Mamdani's way between now and 2032, when the sanitation department predicts it'll finish the project.

• Gov. Kathy Hochul said this morning she will sign the Medical Aid in Dying Act, making New York the 13th state to allow physician-assisted death.
• The NYPD said it's looking for a man who made antisemitic comments before stabbing another man in Crown Heights yesterday.
• A Manhattan jury yesterday found a former NYPD officer not guilty of assaulting two detainees in Manhattan Central Booking during separate incidents in 2022.
• Police said two Bronx men have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing near Times Square last month.
• A city-funded trauma recovery center has opened in Downtown Brooklyn to provide both formerly incarcerated people and victims of crime with access to essential services and counseling.
• As flu cases continue to rise in New York City, the health department has launched a new campaign urging New Yorkers to take extra precautions so as not miss out on holiday fun.
• City Councilmember Bob Holden, who represents parts of central Queens, is calling for a citywide task force to oversee party venues after fielding complaints in his district about crowds and late-night noise at various establishments.

• Alternate side parking rules are still suspended today for snow removal.
