The Tourism Satellite Account, produced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is the official measure of tourism’s economic contribution to the Australian economy. This includes the direct contribution of tourism to Australia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), international trade and employment.
In 2024-25, tourism directly contributed $81.1 billion to Australian GDP, up by $3 billion (3.8%) compared with the previous year. Tourism jobs accounted for 4.4% (or 1 in 23) jobs in Australia in 2024-25.
