Dear readers,

Has anyone else felt a bit like Ms. Pac-Man, taking down an endless string of tasks before the year’s end? Just me?

Hopefully there’s time to decompress and relax in your future. And you know what I’ll say: These waning days of December are an excellent time to haunt your library and snag any books you’ve been meaning to read. If your mind is a sieve and you’ve forgotten what’s caught your eye, perhaps you’ve made good use of the “want to read” feature on many of our articles and reviews, and can refresh your memory by peeking at your reading list on this page.

We’ve also compiled a list of the books New York Times readers say they most want to read. Several of the titles were among my favorites of 2025: “Stone Yard Devotional,” “Isola” and “Flesh,” to name a few. But it’s a wonderful sampling, and if you’re stumped for ideas for what to read next, you might find something there.
