The Measured Mom

Happy New Year, Niepodam!

I wanted to give you a quick heads up about something happening this weekend ...

After 13 years as The Measured Mom, we're rebranding.

History of "The Measured Mom"

I began my website way back in 2013 as a way to keep myself accountable for the learning activities I was doing with my preschoolers. I called it The Measured Mom because I wanted to inspire myself to be more thoughtful, more patient ... more measured.

At the time, my oldest was in kindergarten, and she had three little brothers (ages 4, 2, and 1). They were absolutely adorable, but being measured took a whole lot of patience! (I wish sooo much I could share a picture of how cute they were, but we've agreed not to share their faces. Sigh.)

Those four kiddos are now all taller than me - 14, 15, 17, and 18 (yes, my kindergartner is now in college!). We also have two more - a daughter (almost 12) and a son (just turned 10).

They still keep me busy and on my toes ... just in a different way. :)

New name - coming soon!

As of tomorrow, I'll begin the shift to our new name, Reach All Readers, which better reflects our mission - to help educators help all students become proficient readers.

Not much will change from your perspective ... just the name!

What's coming in 2026?

I will continue to work at my PhD in Literacy (it's a long haul ... probably won't finish for at least another 6 years).

I will be sharing new interactive, Zoom-style workshops beginning in February.

I'll be releasing a series about assessment on the podcast.

I'm planning to get back to YouTube and release weekly content beginning mid-February.

I'll continue to serve members in the newly renamed Reach All Readers Plus membership.

A few personal goals ...

  1. Lose enough weight to get me back to a healthy size and manage my diabetes. I'm 48 now, and being the healthiest version of myself is more important than ever. I've managed to get myself to pre-diabetic, and I'd like to get rid of that diagnosis as well. That means no refined sugar (which I've already been doing for a year now), low carb, much less bread (my nemesis!) and consistency, consistency, consistency with good food choices and exercise.
  2. Use my work time better. For years I had to fit work into the nooks and crannies of my day - but my kids have all been in full time school for a few years now. I wish I could say I always use my work days well! My goal is to instill habits that will help me make the most of my time.
  3. Use my weekends better. I'd like to use my weekends to set up the week for success - more meal planning, work planning, housework, and family time.

Anna
