There’s a lot to like about the Patriots’ potential path to the Super Bowl in this stunning season. None of us expected 14 wins, or a No. 2 playoff seed, but now that the playoffs are upon us, the AFC is wide open and there’s a lot of “Why Not Us” kicking around Patriots Nation.
One of the reasons for this rampant optimism is the prospect of playing the Chargers Sunday night at Gillette.
Hello, Bolts. Nice to see you fellas again.
Not to be dismissive. The Chargers are not Tomato Cans. They won four games this season against teams with winning records, which is three more than the Patriots. They gave us Rodney Harrison back in the day. But they are, ahem, the Chargers, and they’ve never struck fear in the hearts of New England football fans. Coach Jim Harbaugh is certainly one wacky guy and Justin Herbert has serious talent, but Herbert is 0-2 as a playoff quarterback and will be playing with a broken left hand. There’s something about the powder blue Bolts that always feels beatable.
