When I watch old movies, I see families having conversations around the dinner table, sharing their days with each other. But family conversation at dinner seems to be a dying art form. I noticed this when my first child was about six years old. We sat down to eat dinner together — that’s a win, I thought — and as I passed the mashed potatoes around, I asked my kiddo, “How was school?”
“Good.”
