Why DAX numbers go wrong even when the formula is right

Hi ,

How are you doing?

If you’ve ever looked at your DAX and thought, “the formula is correct, so why is this number wrong?”, filter context is usually the reason. DAX doesn’t calculate on the whole table. It only works on the data that’s currently filtered by the visual, slicers, or relationships. That part feels simple at first, but it’s often what blocks people when they try to do more advanced calculations.

In this week’s video, I break filter context down in a practical way, showing how it actually affects your numbers when you build reports, not just how it’s defined in theory.

I’ve structured the video into five levels. Each level adds one more layer, moving from simple examples to more complex situations you’ll recognise when you try to solve harder problems.

Many people loved this explanation of filter context and I’m sure you will too.
