Hey guys, it’s Sarah. We spend a lot of time around here talking about how everything is terrible. And in response, we hear from a lot of people asking: “Okay, so what do we do about it?” Part of the answer is getting out there in the real world—in what JVL calls “meatspace”—and helping to fight back and build something better. That’s why I’m going to be speaking at this year’s Principles First Summit, along with my buddies Bill Kristol, Mona Charen, Gen. Mark Hertling, Will Sommer and other Bulwark friends. The Summit runs February 21–22 in National Harbor, and you can get tickets here: This isn’t your typical stuffy political conference. No hemming and hawing and downplaying the urgency of the moment we’re in. No tweedy academics engaging in obscure policy debates that ultimately don’t matter. This is real talk, and I can promise you that I won’t be holding anything back. You can check out the full speaker list here. There’s a certain energy in these rooms. That’s the reason I keep going back. It’s easy to get beaten down by the daily parade of horribles that our political news cycle has become. But when you get out there and link up with other people who feel the same way, recognize the acute threat of this moment, and still refuse to give up—it makes you realize you’re not alone. It makes you not want to give up. To fight back. To be part of the solution. So be part of the solution. Come out and see us. I’ll catch you at the Summit. Sarah Longwell |
