Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a package of measures on Monday that his government says will help ease the affordability crunch facing families.
The package includes an increase to the GST credit for five years and $20-million for the Local Food Infrastructure Fund to support food banks and other programs that provide food to families.
The government will also set aside $500-million from the Strategic Response Fund to help business manage supply chain issues without raising costs on food.
“We know that, in times like these, we have to look out for ourselves, and we have to take care of each other,” Mr. Carney said.
