Strength training is the rare fitness fad that I cosign 1,000 percent. Sure, the popularity of GLP-1s and protein powder signals a shift in body ideals. But especially for women, getting stronger enhances your quality of life. You can manage chronic conditions, like diabetes; combat osteoporosis as you age; and, most important for me, lift my bikes over concrete barricades when I have taken the wrong turn yet again.

I had the opportunity to visit Nike Strength last week, where I found out that president and CEO Drew Conant is actually the designer of Nike’s flagship weight-training shoe, the Metcon. Conant walked me through Nike Strength’s home and commercial lineup at the company’s facility, which includes the new Nike Grind kettlebell and adjustable dumbbells that I will shortly be testing for a home gym write-up. Nike’s (pricey) gym equipment is distinguished from other, similar items you’d get on Amazon in that it’s sustainably made to Nike standards. (Grind is ground-up repurposed shoes!)

There are also design details that seem insanely obvious once you see them in person, like having the end of the dumbbell be flat so you can lay it on your leg, as you can see above. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to getting pumped with the adjustable dumbbells this week, although mine will be much smaller than that. Do you have something in your home gym you love?
