The public has 30 days to provide feedback before the 2027 MVPs are potentially proposed in rulemaking. The 30-day feedback period opened on January 5, 2026.
Please note that posting an MVP candidate doesn’t guarantee the candidate will move forward in rulemaking.
Submit Your Feedback
By providing feedback, you’re participating in the future of MIPS and development of MVPs. This is your opportunity to ensure MVPs align with your clinical practice needs, support your practice and patient goals, and improve the assessment of quality of care. MVP feedback should be submitted to MVPsupport@cms.hhs.gov for consideration by Friday, February 6, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET. Please include the following information in the email:
Subject Line: Draft 2027 MVP Candidate Feedback.
Email Body: Feedback for consideration and public posting. Please indicate the MVP to which your comment relates.
We’ll publish the feedback received related to each MVP candidate on the QPP website following the 30-day feedback period.
CMS won’t respond directly to any feedback received but will review and determine whether to incorporate any recommended changes to an MVP candidate and whether to propose an MVP candidate through rulemaking.
2026 Call for Improvement Activities is Opening February 1
CMS is opening the 2026 Call for Improvement Activities.
This submission period is from February 1, 2026, through July 1, 2026. CMS encourages interested parties to submit proposed new activities and proposed modifications to existing activities, especially those that could be included in the new subcategory:
Advancing Health and Wellness.
Improvement activities recommended for inclusion or modification should be submitted using the 2026 Improvement Activities Submission Template available on the CMS Quality Payment Program (QPP)Resource Library. The completed template should be sent to the email: CMSCallforActivities@abtassoc.com. Interested parties will receive an email confirmation for their submission.
Improvement activities submitted between February 1 and July 1, 2026, will be considered for inclusion for the CY 2028 performance period, 2030 MIPS payment year. Improvement activities submitted after July 1, 2026, will be considered for inclusion in future years of the QPP.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated the QPP website to include 2026 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) webpages and resources. Learn more about the updates below.
2026 Quality Benchmarks
We’ve published 2026 historical benchmarks for quality measures on the Benchmarks webpage of the QPP website. Benchmarks are the point of comparison we use to score the measures you submit. Your performance on each measure is compared to its benchmark to determine how many points the measure can earn.
If you’re interested in reporting a MIPS Value Pathway (MVP), review the MVPs finalized for the 2026 performance year on the 2026 Explore MVPs webpage to determine if there’s an available MVP that’s applicable to your scope of care and practice. To report an MVP for the 2026 performance year, you’ll need to register between April 1 and November 30, 2026. As a reminder, the group participation option for 2026 MVP reporting is limited to small practices and groups with a single focus of care. You can learn more on the Individual, Group, and Subgroup Participation page of the QPP website.
2026 Explore Measures & Activities
The Explore Measures & Activities tool on the QPP website can help you get familiar with the available measures and activities for each performance category under traditional MIPS. The Explore Measures & Activities tool has been updated to include measures and activities for the 2026 performance year, with links to the individual specifications.
Join the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to Learn More about 2026 Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) Measure Development, Processes, and Expectations
Join us as CMS will host a webinar providing an overview of the suggested QCDR measure development and evaluation processes. CMS and the Practice Improvement and Quality Measures Management Support (PIQMMS) team will also review the resources that are available to QCDRs as they work on any new QCDR measures or updates to existing QCDR measures. This webinar won’t be used to consider additional QCDR measure submissions for the 2026 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance period. This webinar is intended to assist with the development of QCDR measures for future MIPS (2027 and beyond) performance periods.

Participate in Field Testing of Cost Measures Now through February 27
Field testing is now live! CMS and its contractor, Acumen, LLC, are conducting field testing of three episode-based cost measures from January 29 to February 27, 2026. Participation is voluntary.
The following episode-based cost measures are currently being field tested before consideration of their potential use in the cost performance category of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) of the Quality Payment Program (QPP):
Breast Cancer Screening.
Non-Pressure Ulcers.
Parkinsonism Syndromes and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Clinicians and clinician groups who meet the attribution requirements for at least one of the measures will receive a Field Test Report.
The public is invited to provide feedback on the draft measure specifications through an online survey, which closes on February 27, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET.
Access Field Test Reports
You or your clinician group can download your Field Test Report(s) via the Quality Payment Program website if you or your clinician group meet the minimum number of episodes (e.g., 10 episodes for Breast Cancer Screening or 20 episodes for Non-Pressure Ulcers and Parkinsonism Syndromes and MS) for at least one measure.
Field Test Reports contain information about your cost performance based on draft measure specifications. This information will be for field testing purposes only. The measurement period for these Field Test Reports is January 1 to December 31, 2024. Please refer to the Field Test Report Access User Guide available on the CMS.gov QPP Cost Measure Information pages for guidance on accessing your Field Test Report.
Provide Field Testing Feedback
You may provide feedback via online survey now through February 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Additionally, all members of the public—regardless of whether they receive a report—are invited to provide feedback on the draft measure specifications through the online survey. Please feel free to share this message with anyone who may be interested in these activities. Click on the links below to access the surveys:
2026 Field Testing Feedback Survey: Use this general field testing feedback survey to provide your input on the measures, their specifications, the Field Test Reports, or other field testing materials.
