Hi ala,
I just got home from our first Speaker Friends Live event, where speakers help other speakers by sharing pictures and video, and giving feedback. We convened the event on a bitterly cold night after a major snow storm dumped more than 2 feet of snow on Boston.
Surprise, surprise! Our speaker friends came out. We had speakers from 7 states. We had local folks from the Boston area. Other speakers flew in from as far away as Texas and Illinois, drove across state lines and took the train to reach us. The grand experiment was designed to test whether we could get usable assets from an empowered audience of, well... amateurs.
When I say amateur, I'm particularly thinking of myself. My camera skills swing between dismal and none-existent. I'm the person who gets great closeups of the floor. But, among the dreck, I occasionally get some good usable footage...and thumbage.
Meanwhile, each speaker came with purpose. Some were testing out new material. Others were looking for those all-important videos and photos. Still others came to connect with other speakers and help each other out.
As of 10:00 pm, there are almost 900 photos and mini videos in our upload folder and the two professional photographers have yet to upload their photos and videos. Jury's still out on usage footage but all-in-all a great opportunity to spend the evening with our speaker friends.
Bobbie and the entire Innovation Women team
P.S. A massive thank you to the team from Tech Superpowers. They provided the space and rolled out the red carpet for us! (If you need Managed IT or a home theater built...these are your people!)
