Dear Chantilly Community,
WE have missed our Chargers this week! I am hopeful that all in our community enjoyed some time to recharge and enjoy the winter weather, while also staying safe and warm! We are looking forward to welcoming all of our Chargers back to school on Monday, February 2 for a B day (per. 2, 4, 6, 8). I know I am looking forward to seeing many of our Chargers compete this weekend in district competitions and wish good luck to all of our athletes and performers! Come out and cheer on our Chantilly Unified Basketball team and teams from Chantilly, Edison, Centreville, Hayfield, Katherine Johnson MS, Kenmore MS, & Bull Run ES 1-5 PM on Saturday.
Second Quarter Extension and SIS Updates:
Due to the winter weather closures, the second quarter has been extended to February 3. Students should check their Schoology courses for updated information from their teachers. The Gradebook in SIS will not be available in ParentVue and StudentVue from Tuesday, February 3 at 4:00 p.m. until Monday, February 9 at 6:00 a.m. for grading. Report cards are scheduled to be available to students and parents in SIS ParentVue and StudentVue on February 9th, 2026.
Welcome Danielle Schoolcraft to Subschool 3:
I am excited to announce effective February 2, 2026, Danielle Schoolcraft, Ed.S., M.Ed. (pictured below), will join Chantilly High School as the Assistant Principal for Subschool 3. In this role, she will also serve as the administrator supervising our Science Department. Danielle comes to us from George C. Marshall High School, where she has served as an Assistant Principal since 2015.
Danielle brings a wealth of knowledge that aligns with our goals at Chantilly. Her background is rooted in deep instructional knowledge, particularly in the sciences and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
-
Instructional Impact: At Marshall, she supervised five different departments. Her data-driven approach led to significant gains in student achievement, including a 9% increase in Honors Biology and Chemistry "Pass Advanced" scores.
-
Special Education & MTSS: She has a heart for student intervention, having developed special education leadership teams and facilitated professional development that increased classroom engagement.
-
Collaborative Leadership: Danielle is a "leader of leaders." She has served as the Region 5 Marshall Pyramid lead and has spent years facilitating professional development for school-based administrators across FCPS. Danielle is a highly decorated leader, having been nominated by her peers as the Outstanding School Leader of the Year by the Marshall faculty three times.
Danielle is looking forward to connecting with our community on a personal level. She is a proud mother of two daughters, one who currently attends William & Mary, and one who will be graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts this spring before moving back to begin her career. When she isn’t working, Danielle enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and spending quality time with her friends and family. As she noted herself, she is "excited to start this new chapter in my career as a Charger!"
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon.
Sincerely,
Amy T. Goodloe, Ed.D.
Principal, Chantilly HS

February is National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month
Each February we celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country. Click here to read about the Chantilly HS CTE program, highlighted on our school website.
Welcome back, Chargers! As we gear up for the second half of the school year, we want to highlight the vital role regular attendance plays in student success. Our community thrives when young minds are present, nurtured, and engaged; every day in the classroom is a building block for your student’s development.
Many families may not realize that any day missed for any reason (whether excused or unexcused) counts toward a student’s chronic absenteeism rate. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the school year. To put this into perspective, this equates to only 4 to 5 days per quarter!
To keep you informed, every family will soon receive an Attendance Report Card. This summary will include total days enrolled, total absences (excused and unexcused), and the overall absence percentage for the year so far. Please know that these updates are intended as another communication tool, not a judgment on the validity of your family's specific circumstances.
We urge parents and guardians to collaborate with our school support teams to encourage consistent attendance. Together, we can ensure every student receives the high-quality education they deserve.
Thank you for your continued support!

Enhancing Safety and Security for Staff and Students
School safety and security are being enhanced across FCPS with a new emergency management system. The system includes sensors installed in schools and a wearable emergency response button (ERB) for staff.
The button allows staff to quickly and discreetly request help and, once pressed, they provide location information within the school. The ERB will only work on school grounds and does not rely on cellular service. It is not meant to replace calling 911, but is an additional safety tool that can be used if calling 911 may not be safe or practical.
Learn more about the emergency management system. You may submit questions to the FCPS Chief of Safety and Security Office

This new feature is available in addition to the course history and unofficial transcript options in ParentVUE and StudentVUE.
Take the following steps to view the Graduation Status section:
- Log in to your SIS ParentVUE/StudentVUE account.
- Go to Course History.
- Go to Graduation Status and toggle “on.”
For questions about graduation requirements, please contact your child’s school counselor.

Checking out early?
The best and most efficient way to check your student out of school early is to send a note with them to take to their Subschool Office in the morning! Or call your child's subschool before 9 a.m. to request early dismissal. You can find the phone numbers at the bottom of this email and on the Chantilly Attendance page.
- Your student will receive a pass to leave class at the time you specify.
- You won't need to come inside the school; your student will simply come out to meet you.
Please be aware that if you sign your student out in person, it can take up to 30 minutes for the pass to reach them, making sending a note the quickest option!
Important Reminders:
-
Email is not accepted for reporting absences or early checkouts.
- If a student becomes sick during the school day, they must be checked out through the clinic, not the Subschool Office, or by text with the student..
School Photos are now online!
Families should have received an E-proof via email.
Please remember to check your junk folder!.
For any questions about your student's school pictures please contact: underclass@vosphoto.com
The team at Victor O’Neill Studios would like to thank Chantilly High School for a great picture day!
Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools
The new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities at our school or across the school district.
Volunteer FCPS is how FCPS provides a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. Anyone interested in volunteering with FCPS must:
- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk on EVERY visit – no exceptions.
Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity Levels
Due to the overwhelming response, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.
Field trip chaperone opportunities will now be classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting).
To ensure continuous safety, all new volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal confirmation that you have no history of violent felonies, physical or sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude (dishonesty, fraud, things that are immoral by society’s standards).
Visit the Volunteer FCPS website to complete a volunteer orientation. View Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
