Kindergarten Registration

  • It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.

Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.

FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage

Welcome Back & Device Return Reminder

device return2

We hope everyone stayed warm and enjoyed the snow week! As we return to school, please remember to send your child’s school-issued device and power cord back to school with them:

Kindergarten: iPads

1st & 2nd Grade: Laptops and chargers.

3rd-6th Grade: Laptops and chargers.

It is important that these devices return to school so our students can continue using them for their daily learning activities. If there are any issues with the device, please contact your child’s teacher so they can put in a technology ticket and the technology team investigate the issue.

Prepare for Winter Weather

We will monitor the weather for low temperatures, wind chill advisories and warnings, and weather advisories that may prevent children from being outside. Make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. View the National Weather Service’s tips on staying safe during cold weather.

Watch this video to see how weather closing decisions are made at FCPS.

FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated.

Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange emergency child care if needed.

Winter Resources for Families

Winter Resources

A list of resources has been compiled for students and families in case they or someone they know needs assistance while schools are closed for winter weather. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources page for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.

Even If School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!

We encourage students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during snow or inclement weather days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play at home.

Proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Budget Presented to School Board

Budget FCPS 2026

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid presented the FY 2027 Proposed Budget during last Thursday’s School Board meeting. This proposed budget reflects FCPS’ unwavering commitment to sustaining excellence for our students, staff, and community.

The top priorities of FCPS’ FY 2027 Proposed Budget include:

  • Beginning to restore last year’s budget reductions by fully restoring staff positions and lowering some class sizes.
  • Continuing multiyear initiatives, including certified athletic trainers at each of our high schools, family liaisons, fine and performing arts stipends, student athletics and activity offerings, K-12 robotics, and educator math certification and credentialing.
  • Prioritizing competitive compensation for all employees.

View the budget presentation video and slides. Follow the budget process by watching the Tuesday, February 10School Board work session or visiting FCPS’ Budget webpage.
