A message from the Principal
Dear Families,
We hope you have been staying safe and warm during these cold days. Centre Ridge is a winter wonderland covered with snow and ice. Our amazing custodians have worked diligently to break through the ice to clear our parking lot and the school sidewalks that we maintain. Please note that paths from the neighborhoods and sidewalks along Braddock Road are still covered in snow and ice.
Please allow for extra time during drop-off and pick-up next week. Drive slowly in school zones and parking lots. While main roads are clear, many side streets and sidewalks remain slick or are obstructed by snowbanks. If your student usually walks, we encourage you to use the CRES Kiss 'n Ride to ensure a safe arrival and dismissal while these conditions are still present.
Due to the remaining covered walkways, we will need to adjust our kiss and ride procedures to ensure the safety of our students. Please review our Kiss and Ride snow procedures to ensure our students arrive and depart from school safely. Thank you!
Procedures
- Children will load and unload from the passenger side of the car only, so that they do not cross in front of the carpool cars. Due to the snow-covered sidewalks, students will exit the car and walk behind the staff members to ensure their safety into the building. Staff will also assist students in safely getting onto the paved sidewalk.
- Cars must stay in a single file line as they move to and from the Kiss & Ride area. For the safety of the children, no passing will be permitted in the Kiss & Ride area.
- Drivers must remain in the car.
Sincerely,
Erika Aspuria
Principal
It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!
Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.
Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage.
If your child will turn 5 before September 30, 2026 and will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible. Please reach out to our student registrar, Patricia Kirkpatrick, at pakirkpatric@FCPS.edu or 703-227-2605 with any questions. Families are welcome to contact our Spanish speaking Family Liaison, Mary Pierri at mpierri@fcps.edu or 703-227-2656.

⛄ Keep Your Child Warm During Outdoor Activities
We will monitor the weather for low temperatures, wind chill advisories and warnings, and weather advisories that may prevent children from being outside. Make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. View the National Weather Service’s tips on staying safe during cold weather.
If you need assistance getting cold-weather clothing for your family, please call Fairfax County Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880. Their multilingual staff can assist with any challenges you are facing, including food, shelter, employment, financial assistance, and health.
Student Accident Insurance
Fairfax County Public Schools does not provide medical insurance for accidents that occur at school. Parents may want to consider if purchasing voluntary student insurance is appropriate for their family. K & K Insurance Group offers student accident insurance coverage that parents may purchase. For families without other medical insurance, this plan may be a helpful resource. Additionally, for families who already have coverage, this plan may help offset costs such as deductibles and co-pays. Coverage may be purchased at any time during the school year.
Mornings Matter—Every Day, On Time, Ready to Shine!
A strong start leads to a strong day of learning! Arriving on time each morning helps students settle into their routine, connect with their teachers and friends, and fully engage in the day ahead. When students are present and punctual, they build great habits that support their confidence and success.
Even missing just two days a month can add up, affecting progress over the year. Let’s work together to make every morning count, and ensure our Rams are on time, ready to learn, and excited for the day ahead! Thank you for your partnership in making attendance a priority!
Together, let’s make everyday count!
