Federal and Quebec politicians were offering reassurances to the province’s aerospace sector Friday following Thursday threats from the White House.
In a Truth Social post Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to decertify the Bombardier Global Express and “all aircraft made in Canada” — which would ground them in the U.S. — and impose 50 per cent tariffs on Canadian aircraft, writes The Gazette's Michelle Lalonde and Jack Wilson.
The president accused Canada of refusing to certify aircraft made by Gulfstream, a U.S. competitor of Bombardier. The White House appeared to partially walk back Trump’s comments Friday.
