We have published an update on our work to rebuild our regulation.
We’re ahead of our planned schedule of carrying out 9,000 assessments by September 2026. In November 2025, we carried out 50% more inspections than in November 2024 and have completed over 5,000 assessments since April last year.
We have made progress, but there is more to do.
Read the update to find out more about our improvement plan and next steps.
NHS England have recently published a new resource on how to triangulate feedback on discharge from different sources to improve patient experience. The resource sets out a 4-step process to triangulating feedback, with a focus on the experience of discharge for people who use services and their unpaid carers, which has been shown to correlate strongly with overall experience of care.
We are currently recruiting for executive reviewers to support our NHS trust-level well-led inspections.
This role is critical to supporting CQC inspection teams with your knowledge, skills and experience gained as a board level or senior leadership professional.
If you're an experienced healthcare professional and presently hold an executive and senior leadership position, we'd love to hear from you! We are also interested in applications from professionals who have a chief medical officer or chief operating officer background, and can support us in our mental health and/or hospital assessments.
Details about the role are now live on our recruitment site. Applications close on 16 February.
