Good practice in annual reporting

How do you decide what your organisation's annual report and accounts should include? Annual reports are a testament to strong financial management and stewardship. Our new guide on annual reporting is helpful to those who draft annual reports and accounts.

A good annual report should:

  • support accountability

  • be accessible

  • be transparent

  • be understandable.

Every year, we look at a large number of annual reports across the private, public and charity sector and pull out leading examples in this guide. This forms part of our work with PwC's Building Trust Awards and our wider commitment to help raise standards of reporting by public bodies. It provides ideas on content and format for all bodies in both the public and private sector as they plan their annual reporting for 2025-26.
